Original vintage photograph.It measures approximately
2 1/4 x 3 1/4
Inches. This photograph is of Ivan Vasilyevich Skluyev, he was born in 1902, and during WWII he was a NCO in the administrative (intendance) forces in the 144th anti-tank artillery fighter regiment, he took part in the liberation of Soviet Belarus and Poland as well as the invasion of Germany. During WWII he received two orders of the Red Star and a "For Combat Services" medal.
He received the first order of the Red Star for (In two words): During the fighting from June to August 1944 he was an office clerk for the regiment headquarters, and despite the hardships of the battle situations, under frequent artillery and mortar fires he kept working. He submitted the informations about the security of the combat units on time, organized the delivery of ammunition and food to the combat units. In the hard battles in the city of Mogilev, during the liquidation of the surrounded enemy's Minsk group, sergeant Skluyev did everything alone with the second clerk missing. He was very accurate in keeping track of reinforcements and the killed, the regiment's information about its soldiers was 100% accurate. (See screenshot 1)
He received the second order of the Red Star for (In two words): During the battles on the river Ost and West Oder in Germany he did the same heroic deeds as for his first order of the Red Star. During battles under fire he went out in the Artillery batteries and verified data about losses in the military personnel. He worked especially hard preparing award lists for heroes during this operation and filled out 63 award lists. In conclusion to his excellent work in the regiment headquarters he contributed to the success of the expansion of the Ost and West Oder bridgeheads and the final defeat of the enemy.
